My current printer is crapping out on me. I want a new printer, and a scanner would be nice, and copying would be a definite plus, so I figure Ill go for one of the all in ones.

Which ones are good? I've got about $150 to spend. I've been looking at the lexmark x5150, the HP 2110, among others...

Unless you spend around $400 it's not worth getting an all in one setup, you sacrifice quality in each area. You can get a Canon i850 for $149 and a decent scanner for $100

I like my Brother MFC 5100c. That should be in your price range. It suits my needs very well and I can easily buy replacement cartridges for only 2 bux a peice,

A canon i850 is not a everyday type of printer. It was aimed at photo use and that is why it is somewhat expensive. There are many inkjets that are under $100 and get the job done perfectly. One thing that All-in-ones do lack however is a good scanner. They are decent but scan usually at around 1200x600 or similar, howeverm this is plently for make very nice looking copies.

My problem with having a separate scanner is that it is just too huge to keep around on my desk. I need to make lots of copies, and printing is a must. Scanning is just the icing on the cake. I'm not into publishing or anything, just need to scan a few photos here or there, and maybe print one every now and then...

im looking for one in the coming months. The scan doesn't need to be perfect and i wont be printing photos, just papers and a few color images.
