You can very easily google this topic. To me it seems as if you're trying to start a pointless debate regarding that Natzi composer rather than actually being interested in his music.
I also assume you have next to no knowledge of classical music, since Wagner didn't actually release any albums... He composed symphonies and operas.

Overreact much? Wagner died in 1883.

So... I see you are familiar with the magic world of google...
Anyway, you are correct, technically Wagner was dead before the Natzi party was even founded. However what I was referring to, was Wagner's racist opinions, which later on served (along side his musical creations) as Hitler's inspiration (or so claimed by Adolf himself). I'm sure you can google it for more.

Racism in Wagner's lifetime was common and accepted. Defaming him because he was "Hitler's inspiration" is so absurd it's nearly comical.

Edit: I see you're from Tel Aviv...that explains your hypersensitivity and over-reaction. Which Concentration Camp were you in again? The way you're jumping all over this, one can only assume that you lived through the Holocaust.

You know, if you wouldn't sound to me like you have the brain of a 4 years old, I might have actually bothered answering you.
I will stop here, since anything else I'll write will be much less complementing to you (though probably true).

I believe that an orchestra cannot play a Wagner piece in Israel.
More because of what his music came to represent than who he himself was.
The Nazi's used his music extensively.

That's absolutely ridiculous.
IIRC it's not illegal, it just doesn't happen because of the public outcry.

It's a shame that the Israeli people cannot muster the intelligence to overlook a regime's use of some unrelated person's work and just take the music for what it is.

I guess it's kinda hard for holocaust survivors to listen to the music that was played by their captors while they went through hell on earth. Perhaps you can preach to them about what their intelligence should tell them. And why is it a shame? it's music. If they don't want to listen to it it shouldn't bother you.

Conversely if people want to listen to it he should STFU. It is impossible to embed racism or anti-semitic messages in music alone.

Michael Jackson is the poster boy for Paedophiles, but I guarantee in the right conditions and with one of his better back catalogue songs you WILL get down with your bad self. Does this mean you approve of fiddling with kids? No. Same goes for Wagner.

And you think the OP is a holocaust survivor? I'm betting on him being a young punk.

I was not defending the guy who brought the Nazi thing into this thread. But since it was thrown out there I just mentioned a related issue.

I certainly don't think the OP is a holocaust survivor, and I'm not getting on him for listening to Wagner. I was responding to your comment that the Israeli people can't mustere the intelligence to listen to Wagner. I personally have no problem with people listening to whoever or whatever they want.

Whoops, I didn't mean the OP of the thread, I meant AntareStar who originally brought up the Nazi connection.

But seeing as he's just joined the forum, claims to be from Israel, and is starting arguments about Nazis, I think he's just trolling.

WTF?

Regardless, Wagner is one of my favored composers, especially when I want dramatic overtures.
