the asus is what i would pick. not saying that the abit is bad though...

most of my friends have their skt754 amds running on dfi's lanparty ut series. i think it uses the nforce3 250GB chipset. not sure though...

edit: how about nforce4 or the uli chipsets? the uli mobo will let you use a socket 939 cpu, and has FULL agp 8x and pci-e 16x on board!

I really like my MSI Neo2 Platinum Socket 939 Motherboard. Great price and very easy to overclock with.

I wouldn't mind getting another MSI because I'm currently running my 754 3000+ on one. But MSI doesn't make a 939 socket board with an FSB of 1000 and an AGP slot. I' need one with an AGP slot because I'm running a BGF 6800GT.

CAUTION: If you buy the ASUS, be sure it is the A8V Deluxe v.2. Do NOT buy the A8V or A8V Deluxe v.1, they do not have AGP/PCI lock.

I have the A8V Deluxe v.2 with the 3700+ and have had no more nor less problems than with MSI and Epox boards, quite satisfied with it. I needed an AGP board since I didn't feel like replacing 3 month old video card.
You should be able to reach 2.7 with the right ram and settings, but it is not strong overclocking board.

You should at least consider a motherboard with a PCIe slot AND an AGP slot as an alternative. You'll thank me later.

^^^^ I'm with him

I am looking at that exact mb. Now with an x800xtpe is it worth it to go with the athlon 3700 over the 3200 for $75 extra canadian? Part of me is tempted just to buy a Sempron 64 2800 for cheap, with a cheap mb (as agp is only a temporary solution). would save $100 canadian.

If you are going to overclock with an AGP type board, that's the one. If not, Asus.

You know I never even though of getting a board like that. It would work out well because I don't plan on going sli quite yet and once the new 8 series cards come out I won't have to worry about buying a new board.
