I know people have asked a lot of A+ questions but I need a good A+ book.. one that teaches things thoroughly, not something to pass the test.

This is for a friend who's just interested in learning computers and I thought this would be a great start for him. (No exam cram and stuff).. TIA for any suggestions :)

I second that.

It's thick as hell but chocked full of good information and nice to have around as a reference. I used that and took as many practice tests as I could and was in and out within 15 minutes.

IF he ever plans to take the tests this is a great one to have.

Ha, I just bought this book tonight from bn.com.

I took the examcram.com practice test -- Got a 76% on the OS test and 65% (failling) on the core hardware test. :( I have been working with computers for ten years now, but there are some aspects about computer hardware that I know very little about, such as laser printers. Quite a few laser printer questions there.

I hear that this book is primarily good learning the material for the hardware portion of the test, and not OS portion. If you need help with the OS portion you will probably need another source (paraphrasing from some amazon.com reviews)

thanks guys i appreciate the suggestions..

about the laser printers.. its funny how you have to learn all that lame junk then you read on about how you shouldn't open up laser printers unless you're a ceritified laser printer repairman or something.. :)
