I'm putting a new system in my 914 and I need some quality LOUD 5.25 round speakers. If you know a 914, the engine is loud and it has a targa top - mine never leaves the driveway with it on. There's a lot of ambient noise.

So, I have a kenwood CD player(4x35) and some amp (300W) 2-channel - I was planning on running the speakers to the amp, but I was toying with the idea to run a bass tube from the amp instead and relying on the head unit only to power the speakers...

suggestions?

If you run your speakers off the amp (assuming you have 4 speakers) you won't be able to fade the sound in one direction or the other. Maybe that's important to you, or not.

Visit www.crutchfield.com to figure out what speakers fit in your car then come back with your choices.

the 914 came with only 2 locations for the speakers - in the kick panel area by your outer foot. So, I can only put in 2 without cutting the door panels.

I've verified with other 914 owners that the 5.25 round and 4x6s will fit with the standard 914 speaker grills. From what I understand, teh 5.25 will fit better than the 4x6.

So, i'm pretty much stuck.

Maybe so, but not all 5.25 speakers are the same. Some are deeper than others. Check Crutchfield just for kicks.

The best thing, really is to go to a store and demo the speakers with a similar headunit to yours to see how they sound. What sounds good to other people may not sound good to you.
