Good 200-300Gb HDD

looking for a good HDD for my new system, im a little behind as the last drive i bought was a 30GB Maxtor like 5/6 years ago. New system will have SATA support as well as IDE should i go with that or stick with IDE? Also who makes good drives nowdays i will prolly get two of them and raid them to prevent data loss.

well the new seagate 7200.10's seem to be the cheapest but i have seen a few posts of heat issues, are they any good?

SATA, definitely. Even if the speed differences are negligible, working with SATA cables is much easier and it'll help your case's airflow. Personally, I haven't bought any new drives recently, so I'll let someone else comment on specific brands/drives.

Most of them are decent, BUT I will tell you to avoid the first gen Western Digital SATA 250GB drives.

I had two and they both died in 6 months.
Did a little scan across the web and found out many other folks were having the same issue.
Actually, I dont think you could buy one now if you tried. They should have recalled what was left in the stores.
