i run my athlon xp 1700+ tbred @ 1.7 ( 200/x8.5) - 2.0( 200/x10) ( depending on room temp )

my heatsink is a Tt Volcano 7+
my Motherboard is DFI Lanparty nForceII Ultra REV_A
my ram is pc2100 @ pc3200

my avg. temps for it being @ 1.7 are: socket:30-35*C diode: 30-40*C

I also have my FSB @ 400mhz.

I wanted to know if those temps are safe, and is it possible for me to go higher? If i set it on 200/x11 it wont boot, maybe if i raise voltages it will fix that?

If your XP-1700 is a T-Bred "A", your OC is not bad, and your temps look fine.

The best I could do, with a T-Bread "A", was 1.76gh (185 x 9.5) on the following system:

- MOBO - EPOX 8RDA (not +) rev 1 (nForce-2 without full 400fsb support)
- CPU - XP-1700 (T-Bread "A")
- RAM - Crucial pc2700 (2ea 256mb sticks)
- HS & Fan ? Dr. Thermal TI-V77 (28cfm / 3200rpm)
- vCore = 1.70v
- vDimm = 2.77v
- Idle Temp = 34c
- Load Temp = 49c
- Prime Stable no errors after 16 Hours

I have, since, switched to an XP-1700 (T-Bread "B") as follows:
- 1.95gh (185 x 10.5)
- Same system
- vCore = 1.75v
- vDimm = 2.77v
- Idle Temp = 35c
- Load Temp = 45c
- Prime Stable for 22 hours (Stopped the test so I could use the PC)

There's a big difference between tbred a, tbred b dlt3c, trbed b dut3c, etc. and individual processors so don't feel bad.

I'm getting 2352 on my 1700+ dlt3c 24/7 @45degrees on an old sk-7, panaflo H, 8rda+ which tops out at 195 fsb. But it took a while and I got really lucky. Some folks got much higher, some lower.

Even once you've tried various fsb/multi combos, upped your voltages where you feel comfortable, etc. go back in a few months and try again as your memory will be burned in better then.

And push it up more.

Good luck, nice overclock.:D

edit: Just checked your memory; dang nice overclock! I'm running ddr400; think you've got an impressive overal clock there.

I always thought it was sad that AMD didn't have the bandwidth to actually get into the chipset mfg. business.

Those were great chipsets, especially given the fact that they didn't plan to, actually, get into the business, and that they only made those first few to get by until someone else could gear up to support them.

What FSB are you running that board at?

i have had a few 1700+s that did from 2.3 to 2.5 , depending on cooling and voltage.

Were these CPU's completely stable at the 2.3 and 2.5 speeds you mentioned?
In other words, would you run them there on a continual bases?

Also, what were the highest voltage requirements and temp results that you experienced in these cases?
