Good 17" gaming lcd's

i have been thinking about getting an lcd for awhile. But have been drawn away from one mainly for gaming reasons. But now that newer lcd's are coming out that have lower ms times, they are becoming more and more appealing. I have been looking at the Hitachi and the NEC models, mainly the NEC 1760 model. But I just saw the new Samsung 12ms one. But it is kinda out of my price range, $579 on newegg. So I was wandering if the NEC is a pretty good one and will last awhile or would another model be best for me? I don't want to really spend more than $500. NEC 1760 used to be less than $500 but now on newegg it is like $525 or something like that. But I might get it. And if anyone has an NEC one that they want to sell get in touch with me. Thanks
 
why don't you consider 18" ones? you can play games at 1280x1204. dell outlet has refurbished 1801FP for 367 shipped starting yesterday, but they go very quickly.
