i'm looking to replace my obnoxious ys tech 120's that howl at 44db. i saw the enermax 120's that push 95cfm at 35db. are there any other choices i should be looking for? i really like the large air movement at a decent volume. i've looked at the panaflo's and they seem pretty pussy in the cfm category. thanks

I've got an Aluminum Evercool 120mm that does an excellent job of moving air without being too noisy. I tried several, and it was the pick of the litter.:light:

I have a 120mm Panaflo, 120mm DMB, and a 120mm Delta. I would say that at default voltages, the Panaflo is the quietest, but at lower voltages (when I crank down my Vantec Nexus), they all seem to be about the same noise levels, while the Delta fan definitely feels like it's moving a LOT more air.

yea i have a vantec nexus fan controller so i turn them down, but its when i'm playgin games and have to turn them up that it gets obnoxious, so anything over 40db is out of teh question, i already have a smart fan 2 on my cpu which isnt as bad, its just high pitched, but the ys tech is just plain loud.

heres the deal, i'm lookin at either teh evercool aluminum or the enermax. has anyone had both of these fans and heard them noisewise? according to specs, the enermax moves 94.92cfm at 30.1db and the evercool al. moves 84.5cfm at 31db. it seems spec wise that the enermax is the better deal. any suggestions here, cuz looking at it at a purely statistical level it looks like nothing can beat the amount of air the enermax pushes at the same volume.

Newegg has some customer reviews on their site for the Enermax. Although I can't say for certain, my guess is that the Evercool will be more likely to live up to its specs --- I think the aluminum chassis makes a difference.

Edit: Almost forgot to mention that the Evercool does not send an RPM signal -- the Enermax does. The Enermax also has adjustable fan speed switch, which the Evercool doesn't. Those may be important considerations since the Enermax on lower settings will probably be quieter despite being plastic.

For my Sonata case, Antec recommends (and of course no one sells it but them) the 120mm fan for the internal fan mount, on the hard drive cage. The specs are like over 100 cfm at a pretty high db rating but I guess on the fan only ps leads it runs slower normally. Apparently the higher cfms at a higher rpm mean higher cfms at lower rpms, thus supposedly making them blow more air then comparative fans...any thoughts on if I should get this one or what else? thanks....

The Evercool does send an RPM signal - but you need one of those adapters that allow you to plug it into the mobo's 3 pin header so that it can be read, since it only has the 4-pin Molex power connector.

I'm lookin at the panaflo FBA12G12M1A and FBA12G12H1A, and I just want to know if the L1, M1, H1 are all the same fans just running at different stock speeds. If this is the case then if i have a fan controller (which i do) then there is no reason why i shouldnt get the H1 since I can just lower the speed from 2500rpm to 2100rpm and turn it into an M1 in a sense (gives me the quieter sound of the M1 but the flexibility of using an H1 when needed). Do you understand where i'm giong with this?

edit: wheres the cheapest place i could find these too (in the US)?

The H1A's are really quiet for the amount of air that they push. I am not sure if it is really the same fan design or not between models but they use the same bearing type.

You can get any type of Panaflo fan @ Digi-Key

Matter of fact today, I received two hard-to-find styles. (Panaflo-ES 60mm L-series and 80mm U1A's)
Digi-Key's website leaves a lot to be desired though. It is kinda hard to traverse and when shopping online you don't get a shipping quote. (Although, they ship fast and reasonable. $5.xx for 7 fans)
You get a price break @ 5,10 etc.... multiples.

If you need L1A's go here: CaseCooler.com
$5.00 ea. and they sell 3 or 4-pin connectors for $1.00 ea.
