I've got a pc at work running winxp...now the people want to run a DOS prog on it!!! So they want to format it and install win98 so they can restart in ms-dos mode and work from there. I ran SETI as a service...not going to be able now!!!

Anyway to run that dos prog in winxp???

Thanx

If the drive is formated FAT 32 then you can load DOS to it's own partition and be run along side WinXP. DOS doen't recognize NTFS file system, so partioning the drive and reformating a partition to FAT32 , you caninstall and run DOS. And there are a lot other options.

I did a search on Langa.com, here are the results. Hope they help.

I've worked at an insurance company helping them to migrate to WinXP. They still used Win95 (last year:p) and almost every program they had ran in DOS. So, the main issue was to test all the old DOS-software to work with WinXP, and it did! We did not find any problems with running any kind of DOS program in WinXP, ofcourse you should just test it and see what it does. Even when it needs a Lan connection or an old modem, it just works :)
You can set any program for compatibility problems to run in compatibility-mode by clicking on the properties-->compatibility tab of the program..

Good luck on Not losing a mighty cruncher ;)
