gonna get a WII

hey guys, the last 15 years i have snubbed every platoform other than the PC as a True gaming solution for the hardcore gamer. but now the WII has me all giddy and nostalgic. i however have a small question before i pre-order it. i don't unfortunately own a tv, so would it be possible to run the WII through either a) my video card's breakout box, an EVGA 7800 GT CO or b) can i connect it to my Dell 2004fpw through either DVi or composite. the audio i assume i can route to my lgitech z5500 via an optical cable. anyways, this is a bit confusing for me and any clarifications would be appreicated.

I, for one, will be buying none of the new consoles. Not because I don't think they're great and all, but because I'm poor. :laugh:
 
I can't say, but I tried to run some consoles through an All-in-Wonder, and later through a Hauppage PVR-150. The image and sound were fine, but there was a delay -- about 1.5 seconds on one card, around 3 seconds on the other. Basically made gaming impossible. You could probably test this out with any video device -- just connect it the way you plan to connect the Wii and see if it's doable or lagged out. I could never get away from the delay on my setup.

As input to your monitor directly, maybe there's an adapter? I'm not up to speed on all the console outputs, but maybe the next-gen stuff will be more friendly to DVI.

I am hoping to get one of the LCD monitor/TV combo units for my next display, which I suppose would have no delay issues.

Your best bet is composite, since it isnt going to do dvi or vga out. You certainly aren't going to use an optical cable for the audio either.

Other than that it should work, but make sure you have room for the sensor bar.

If your monitor has a composite input, then i see no reason why you won't be able to do it.
