Gonna buy cell phone for Mom

My mom HATES the Samsung phone that came with the contract. She loves my Motorola Razr V3 (about two years old) and uses it all the time.

So I was gonna shop around on Ebay and buy her one. I don't know anything about cell phones. Do I just remove the SIM card from her phone and install it in the new one? Do I need to buy one that is unlocked or something? Carrier is Cingular/ATT.

If it's not AT&T/Cingular branded you will need an unlocked one or unlock it yourself. Then yes, all you will need to do is pop the sim card in it. My biggest concern about a phone that old would be the condition of the battery.

If you want one similar to a RAZR but a bit newer, you can probably get a RAZR2, SLVR, KRZR, or RIZR for pretty cheap. Those are all newer than the RAZR but share similar designs and may be in better shape.

I like the KRZR and RIZR myself, but somebody who loves a RAZR might find the keypads a little cramped. They're both much narrower than a RAZR.

A RAZR2 V8 would probably be a better option.

they used to sell those as a prepaid, might be able to still find one in store if any one else looking.
