Is this movie going to be the greatest movie of Q4 2014 or what? I know nothing about the book but Fincher is going to fucking destroy it with this movie. Tracking a solid 86% from RT with most internet reviews I've been reading overwhelmingly positive.

He's got his all-star producing lineup going here:
cinematographer Jeff Cronenweth, editor Kirk Baxter, production designer Donald Graham Burt, costume designer Trish Summerville and the music and sound design team of Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross and Ren Klyce

I've heard good things but I'm oddly not all that excited for it. Gimme Inherent Vice or gimme nothing.

Is Fincher the same guy who made House of Cards? Yes, he destroyed the British version alright. No thanks

I really hope it's better than the trailers which make it just look like a solid but nothing special drama re-enacting the stupidity of situations like this in the modern world.

With Fincher I'd almost expect there would be a hook and the trailers are just misleading somewhat, but after his last several movies I kinda doubt it. It'll be decent but still meh for me I'm willing to guess.

The book was a big commercial success. Tried to read it but didn't get far. Did not find it interesting or well written

I suspect the Reznor soundtrack has something to do with this thread?

Fight club and se7en are two of my favorite movies of all time. The fact that reznor got involved later on was a delightful coincidence.

I love and hate this cast at the same time.

and then what do you know, I see this on my twitter feed re: inherent vice

Yeah it's an odd cast, but I trust PTA. Also Reese has been good recently in both Mud and Wild. Not sure how she will do in anything that is not monosyllabic though. :hmm:

I don't understand the BA hate at all.

Me neither.

As much as I love David Fincher, I agree; Inherent Vice is what I'm waiting for.

Yeah! I want to fly down to New York to try and get into the premiere, but I don't think I can get off work. :|

Loved the book and very glad to see the movie getting good early reviews. Can't wait to see it!
