Golfers: what sort of site would you like to see?

As a winter project ... yes, I am contemplating the end of the golf season already (probably only 1.5 months left at most up here) ... I am considering making myself a golf enthusiast type of website. I have a few ideas, from a handicap calculator, photo gallery, perhaps a forum, tons o'links too.

What would you like to see on a golf website designed for you?

definitely some type of forums as well.

some type of "submit your own tips" section would be awesome.

also links to places that have some type of golf packages would be cool too, cause I know i'm going to take a golf trip in the off season because its cheaper.

Great idea. I find it hard to get good golf information online. Equipment reviews would be useful. Same with equipment building...

I'll be doing some of this I suspect, but I am located in Canada, so perhaps some user-submitted reviews?

I am revamping my own course's cruddy website currently as well. I'll post it up for comments when I get to a point where I'm happier with it.

I'd like to see some courses reviewed, perhaps from a mid-handicapper's perspective. I'd love to join a golf forum - I'd actually be willing to contribute pics of courses in my area as well. Good luck Patt! I second many of the ideas contributed already as well.

This Oregon site is one of the best sites I've seen for looking at courses.
Text A little flawed in that they don't say anything bad about any course (unless you read between the lines on a few of them), but the layout with the maps is great.

Interesting ... I'd love to be able to do this more than province-wide though.

a forum would be a definite good thing - there aren't any good golf forums that I've been able to find.... I'm guessing that a for sale / trade section would go over well seeing as how much golf equipment turnover there is.

Hm, you could do similar, just make it for North America and cut the courses down to the ones worth traveling to... major resorts, famous courses, Top 100 public courses. Have good objective reviews (most sites pander), provide links to travel agents and golf packages and whatnot. Lots of people do golf vacations, but it's difficult to find any web resource that's more than an advertisement. Your site could answer the question of whether I want to go to say, Myrtle Beach or Pinehurst. Comparison would include costs, scenery, quality of golf, weather, travel considerations, things to do (if any) when you're not golfing, directions, etc etc

I think this level of detail might have to wait until I can get people to pay me for this stuff, and I can travel more and play golf on someone else's tab I'd love that!

they have GREAT forums there. the people on that forum are more about component golf clubs as oppose to OEM clubs however, and they convinced me to go that route.

i'm glad I did, saved a bunch of $$$ on my new set and it is working out wonderfully
