So I've been struggling the last year. Used to be a 14 and for some reason I struggled to break 100 for the last two years.

every shot was off.

I'm a tall guy, 6'3. I couldn't believe I had so much trouble getting off the tee and hitting an iron. Dropping my left shoulder everytime.

Guess what I did?

All I did was move my feet closer together and all is fixed. My stance before was rather wide (outside my shoulders....how it got that way i don't know)

now my lower body is much more flexible and i'm able to turn my hips - result? Throwing darts at the pin from 180 in. widened my stance and stepped away from the driver and now I'm drawing down the middle for 280.

go figure. Anyway I went from shooting 100-105 to 87-91 over that last 5 rounds.

yipee!!!!!

spidey's got his grove back and I'm damn happy about it. Now if I can only fix my short game.

*cliff notes*
simple changes in setup yield amazing results...aka stance

-edit-
Changed entire routine as well and slowed down tempo to really setup for the shot and visualize, making sure my aim was on.

F'in throwin darts at it from 180!!!!!!
wahoo!!!! I'm so psyched for my league match on wednesday.

Damn, that's an impressive improvement. I helped my swing somewhat a few months ago by relaxing my arm and wrists, but I haven't been on a course in quite awhile so I don't know exactly the improvements (although my biggest problem is inconsistency, so I doubt it helped much).

Good news!

I just changed my grip last weekend and did about 10 strokes better than I did 2 weeks ago. The way I was holding it before was hindering my control of the club I think. I changed it on the range before playing just as a trial and I ended up hitting the 9 iron about 115-120 yards which is pretty far for me.

It's amazing what a little bit can do in the game. I think part of my problems stem from the awful clubs I use. The driver is horrible and the head of the irons get progressively smaller as they get longer so I have to be even more accurate.

I think I'm going to get better clubs sometime in the near future.

It's amazing what a small adjustment can do for your swing.

A friend recommened me to change my grip and my swing plane when we went to the range one day and it did wonders. I have been playing for less than a year, maybe twice a month and I had been shooting in 110s. Now I can shoot in mid 90's.

Me too.

But my hopes in new clubs are "OMG they'll change your game)

More in the lines of "grips are larger, shafts longer so you don't have to bend over so much on the short irons and the lie angle are more suited to my swing." A coupld strokes at best, but hopefully it will fell better.

I still hit outside the sweetspot most times but thank goodness I got rid of my "outside-in" swing a while ago. this is more of a "too steep" swing in an effort to hit down on the ball...need to have a flatter take away.

sweet!

I love that feeling.

I hooked up with this dude that had been playing for years. Fancy gear, new driver and still he had a wicked slice...truly wicked.

As he was stepping up to the tee on #14 I just said...

"hold up there. Try something for me. Turn that right hand over (he was severely weak) and just swing"

No more slice and he was giddy as a SOB. I fixed his slice.

are u taking lessons???

I had problems casting my club.. and it turns out that I dip my head down on the backswing, which is a huge no no.. there is no way I can spot this on my own..

I think I am going to take a few golf lessons. I have made a few minor adjustments lately and have seen some small improvements, but I need a professional to SHOW me what I am doing wrong, and what to do to correct it.

no. I keep promising myself I will, just don't go thru with it.

I'm sure I could improve imensely if I did.

-edit-
think about this...is a better bat going to take a .200 hitter into a .300?
No. Its the swing man, clubs are only the tool

Do you have any friends who are decent golfers? You can always have them spot your swing

When you are on top of your game, video tape your swing from different angles. When your game takes a dump, take another video and compare the two. It makes a lot of difference to watch yourself "swinging your club".:D
