Golf Question...

Ok, so here I am watching my girlfriend play Tiger Woods Golf on the Ps2 and she gets a hole in one and the ball litterally just falls straight into the hole...

My question is in real life has that ever happened where a golfer hit the ball from the tee and got a hole in one without the ball ever bounceing or touching the ground before going into the hole?

id say no considering the force would have it bounce out

Anything is possible, but I doubt that a ball would just drop right into a hole. To me it seems that the ball would bounce back up and out of the hole.

Yes, hole-in-ones have been made where the ball flies directly into the cup. Sadly, never by me.

Don't know, but I've seen it hit the pin before on TV. That's gotta be slimmer odds than the cup in my book, I mean that thing is only like 3/4" thick!

I remember in 99 Couples saved par from the tee box on 17 at Sawgrass by holing his 3rd shot on the fly after hitting the water on his tee shot.

Having payed a decent amount of attention to golf over the years, I've seen it happen several times. The pin helps keep the ball in.

If the ball is heading toward the cup at an angle, and it hits the side of the cup first, then hits the bottom of the cup, and then hits the other side, it might stay in.

Note: That was worded terrible in a way, but I'm sure someone will understand what I'm talking about.

i actually played with a guy that did this he said it was on an "executive course" (all holes are par 3's) so the holes was only ~80 yards

i hit mine from 191 yards out (tournament tees) (3 witnesses) and it rolled a good 30 feet before dropping

Bingo, that is the answer. The ball gets wedged in the hole because the flag is still in place.....

Only to a small degree. Yes, the flag can help trap the ball in the cup, but only a little. Remember that the ball is hitting with a lot of force. For it to stay in a lot of things need to happen right. Even with the flag in it's very easy for the ball to hit the bottom of the cup and bounce out 50 feet away. I've made two aces, both where the ball hit the green first and hopped or rolled in. In 20 years I've flow about 6 shots directly into the hole and not a single one has stayed in. The last time I did it was on a par 3 and I didn't get the ace, didn't get the birdie and even found a way to avoid a par. The ball bounced out to about 20 feet and I three-jacked it from there for a very annoying bogey.

some professional guy did it a week or two (TOPS) ago. it was all over ESPN and CNN.

Yep, not a true hole in one but it went straight in off the tee. Great par save too!
