The golf course closest to where I live raised their greens fee this year to $175 (somewhat less if you're a resident of the village). :frown:

That is cheap compared to Japan.

But in the new world order, only the rich will have time to engage in an activity such as golf. 99% of the people will be working 80 hours a week just to earn enough to exist, and that certianly won't include health care, also a privledge of the rich.

I have a large selection of courses where 18 holes is <$30, sucks to be you.

I can even golf on the same course as a PGA tour event for a whole $35 for 18 holes.

Haha :)

I called the one here, its $900!!! I mostly go to public ones, and was thinking about joining this one since last year, but doesnt look like its gonna happen.

You should come to SE Michigan. There are plenty of courses where you can pay <$50 to play 18 holes, with cart. I prefer to walk, so it usually costs me ~$30.

and its not cheap to make a golf course

a rule of thumb is for every 1 mill invested in a golf course, the green fees increase by $10
so for $175 green fees, the golf course is worth about 17.5 million

What? Even if that's in Canadian dollars that's like still over $700. What course is it?

I think he meant the membership fees... in which case that's really not high.

The most expensive public courses in North American are the ones near Las Vegas, like Shadow Creek (a Tom Fazio course) or Cascata.
