Ping Hoofer Extreme II

I won this for winning my flight in my club's Open this past weekend. It has a retail price of $210 CDN listed on the tags, and since I already have a Ping Hoofer from winning last year, I'm not sure what to do. The new one has some nicer features to it, but then again, I could put the $210 towards something else ... a new driver perhaps?

The one I won is Silver/Royal blue, and my original Hoofer is Royal Blue/Black.

i would sell it. if you already have a good bag, no point in having another IMO. i have a nike bag that I picked up for $50 last summer and I love it. does everything I need it to.

Go ahead and sell it if you don't need it. Might be hard to get the full retail value of it though.

I'm pretty sure I can return it to the Pro Shop for credit in-store, which means I can order anything I like through them. Add that to a $30 gift certificate I just remembered I have, and I'm up to $240 ... :)

OK then ... here's another question, since the pole is overwhelmingly in favour of trading the bag in:

Ping G2 ($399), Cleveland Launcher ($299), Cleveland Launcher Comp ($349) ... anyone used any of them, and which is preferred. One thing I'd like to know is the difference between the Launcher and the Launcher Comp. (Edit: mostly materials used in construction. If they have a lefty of any of the above, I'm going to demo them today!)

Sigh, what a terrible dilemma :p

You should give the bag to me. :)

I wish I could help with the picking of the BOOM stick... I haven't hit any of those.

i'd take the cash and go the component route :D

my irons + driver cost as much as the cleveland launcher comp, and i couldn't be happier :D

If I didn't have a perceived need for a new driver, I'd consider it. I'm pretty sure I would benefit from a new driver, giving me a decent backup to keep in the garage in case of struggles, like the monumental ones I'm going through now with my slice. :) I'll demo some stuff today, and then make my decision. I may have an original Hoofer for sale/trade if I keep the new one!

I don't think the Pro Shop will give me cash :( Just in-store credit. Those new irons working out well for you then??

yah. i went to play a round on Saturday but as I was on the first tee it started to sprinkle. i hit a decent drive, then a somewhat hooked 5 iron into the rough, then an 8 iron onto the green. I was puttin for birdy when the rain just started POURING down big time (its a par 5 first hole). i was VERY VERy disappointed, because I drove 1 hour to my dads house to play at the course, then ended up leaving an hour after I arrived there for another hour trip back home.

i've only hit my irons 3 times a the range but so far I like htem. i'm getting used to the feel of them. they are heavier with a lil more offset. they are steel shaft as oppose to my other graphite shafts. but as I said, i'm really starting to get the feel for them. i'm hitting my 4 iron pretty conisistent already after 3 sessions. i'm probbaly going to hit a small bucket tomorrow as well.

:( not us. by the time i got my umbrella out and headed for the nearest tree (not very smart with lightning eh?) - i was already completely soaked. we decided to head back to the clubhouse rather than risk getting struck by lightning, and the wind was so strong it bent my umbrella all to shiznit. oh well. good times.

Can't say I got rained on this weekend, but I did have to deal with high temperatures (for me), and severe winds on Sunday. In the tourney, the first day was 30 degrees Celcius, and no wind whatsoever. Shot a 1-under 34 on the front, then got heatstroke and ballooned to a 46 on the back!

Sunday dawned windy, but sunny. On one hole a playing partner hit 8 iron from 130, and it was a moonball. It started coming back with the wind, about 10 yards and when it bounced it bounced 5 yards backwards into the bush! Craziness. I pounded a 7 iron from the same distance, hitting it low, and it barely made pin high. I love golfing in wind. I have always been able to hit it low, so it was fun watching my playing partners get blown all over the place while I cruised to my win. :):)

i've hit the ping and the cleveland non comp... i like both of them for different reasons.. ping felt really good whenever i did hit it right, and the clevenland i was more consistant with..

i say the best choice is to trade the bag in for a new club since you think a new driver would benefit your game.. bags don't increase the performance of your game....
