GOLDEN ORB flipchip fan, any good ? cos my fan has had it !!!

i have p3 933eb with abit slocket.

my fan never turns at a onstant and i am beginning to get scared.

i liked the sound and look of these.


will i get 1 ? and if not what should i get ?

yeah these gorbs has been shown to be not as good as you first look at it cooler now... try the taisol or globalwins... which mobo do u have ?

You mean the fan rpms aren't constant (as in they never stay the same)?
If that is, you're wrong my friend 🙂
No fan will ever stay at a constant rpm because of voltage spikes (from your power lines), disrupted airflow, stuff like that.
As long as it stays reasonable close (within 100rpm or so) you should be fine.

makes 1 hell of a noise, kinda grindy !

yeah it hums nicely then will grind every 2 mins or so for a bit.

it is a new fan but not a good make. i got it flung in for nothing with the chip.

Make sure you follow the intall directions on the box. They can be a little tricky to intall.

Yea, that's what I mean. Just gotta be careful twistin that sucker on. I've got 3 of them and have taken them off a few times to change the thermal paste (artic silver!) so I've become adept. But that first time you swear your gonna break something. The box shows you how. Make sure to take a quick look before you jump in. Happy twistin...
