Golden Key International Honour Society

Join it, it's useless for the most part, but some car insurance companies will give you a discount if you're a Golden Key Member. I got a discount with Geico for instance for being in Golden Key. In the long run it'll save you more money than the $80.

Interesting, I thought this was a lifetime membership thing. Yet, I can't find any record of my membership on that site. I guess, telling them to stop bothering me with spam and other letters through the mail might have caused them to revoke my membership.

What sort of "seminars" and "conferences" do they put on? Anything related to science or medicine (that's what I'd be interested in)?

Also what do they mean by getting you contacts / connections?

Is this really just a scam designed to show that people who get high GPAs are not really smart because they gave some organization USD $60 for no reason? 😉

It is a 'fluff' organization. You want to be a member (if you can) of a real collegiate honor society which are usually (if not always) degree specific, not that Golden Key thing.

I'm not sure if the University of Toronto has honour societies like that. Perhaps a fellow UofT student can shed some light?
