I have this HSF on my Athlon 1.3 and am tired of it's noise. I've seen adapters and stuff for putting bigger Fans on it but is that a good way of doing it? Any suggestions on a different HSF is also welcome.

Adapters are an option. They also will restrict airflow. You might get less noise and the same volume of air by using an adapter and a bigger fan. Thermalright makes heatsinks that can take 60mm-92.5mm fans without adapters. Actually, the adapter is built into the top of the heatsink, giving it the unique appearance of a Dilbert character with a signature hairstyle.:D

Any recommendations on a replacement? Also, can you recommend somewhere that sells the adapters I need to put the bigger fan on my HS.

Thank you,

I can't believe your 60mm fan is as loud as my Thermaltake Smart Case Fan 2 on full blast, but the Tt SCF2 moves almost double the air with that noise. I used one of these adapters for a friends HSF These
It seems to work quite well
