Trump’s executive order would impose classical style on federal buildings. Should we be worried?

I wonder how long it will be before we start constructing official buildings with tall narrow doors.
 
Oddly enough, I spent part of yesterday evening on Google Earth looking at Albert Speer's Nuremberg follies which were inspired, in part, by American neo-classical eyesores like the Federal Reserve building in DC. Trump always wanted a reviewing stand.

Meh, odd thing for a President to be concerned with but this President has a background in building so it’s not weird for him.
Well within the rights of the President to declare something like this.

Toilets must have 20 gallon flushes, probably at the top of the list. He has his priorities after all.

The federal government doesn't own a lot of notable brutalist work that I can think of except the Hoover Building and the Fed Reserve Boson.

If you want timeless elegance try the International Style stuff like the Mies designed Federal Center in Chicago.

Yeh, he likes Stalinist wedding cake architecture for a reason. We have a great example here in Denver-


Actual utility of interior spaces is miserable, of course.
 
How would mandating architectural styles for all future federal buildings by executive order even work? What's to stop the next president from issuing a contrary executive order requiring all federal buildings to be in Art Nouveau style and painted pink? A sane President following Trump would restore the old guidelines that had no preferred architectural style

The Lincoln Memorial will be torn down around the statue and a new confinement made of black granite, lots of brass, and smoked glass erected in its place. You know something befitting the 2nd greatest president that ever lived. Who was treated very unfairly. Almost as unfairly as the first best president in all history of the planet.

since most of what he's claims as his accomplishments are EO and can be reversed by a subsequent EO I'm more worried about the judges and hirings done under this admin as those will take longer to ID and remove.
 
Frank Lloyd Wright would march right up to Trump, drag him down over his lap and smack that fat orange ass of Trump's until it turns all shades of blue, black, yellow, pink and red and THEN lecture him on what architecture is all about and especially what it's NOT all about.

But people over the years have told Trump.

“Sir, you build the bestest, bigliest, most tremendously, beautiful buildings in the history of the world. You should be designing all of the buildings not those weak architects who learned things at school.”

So am I. However modern attempts to replicate the style are almost always cringeworthy because its insane expensive to do well now and corners are always cut. There aren't many of these in DC either AFAIK.

If you'd like to see a fucking spectacular Art Deco government building check out the Louisiana state capitol. Nebraska's too.
