Maybe now would be a good time to outlaw the ownership of gold, send the military house to house and collect everything with gold in it, and then turn that gold over to the federal reserve.

The fed could then sell the gold, and pay off our debt.

Or, just give all of our gold to china as a down payment on the debt?

Most Americans probably hold gold certificate if anything. Try to cash all of them and see what happens

I remember a thread a year or two ago about a guy who said his wife wanted to buy gold, and everyone completely ripped him apart since prices were obviously going to crash. That guy would've made some money.

Using a year or two ago as a guide (July 10, July 09) his wife would have been better off buying Apple stock.

I was talking about seizing wedding rings, bracelets, watches, necklaces,,,, "anything" with gold in it.

Weren't gold coins outlawed in the 1930s? So lets take it one step further.

Drastic times call for drastic measures.

lulz. the actual amount gathered won't be enough to fix the damages this will cause. Like whole cities will burn down.

This happens right after the wife of a guy I know tossed her golden wedding ring out the window of a car on the highway, going to be a lucky day for a convict picking up trash.

/waits for this gold bubble to pop...I remember the excitement in the late-70's and early 80's when gold prices inflated to over $600/oz...and watched that bubble pop...and prices dropped back into the $300/oz range...

24 July Gold was at 952.80 per oz Today 1605.10 up 59%

apple stock 24 july 156.75 per share today 373.80 up 41%

i see your point though, apple would have been a cheaper way to make money.

Yes, very lucky. Were the convict to to sell it yesterday and get market value, he would have made an entire ~$1 less.

Thinks of the movie pulp fiction, where Christopher Walken tells the kid about having to keep a watch shoved up his *** for several years while in a POW camp.

I wonder if the watch was even washed before it was delivered to the kid?

So, if an inmate found the ring, where would he hide it?

Huh? You don't have to buy it in entire ounces. I buy tenths of an ounce. :D

I pay taxes with every paycheck, I assure you the government is not broke.

lulz. The amount you pay in taxes was spent while somewhere between you first touching the key for the first letter you typed, and it moving downward a millionth of an inch.

Super FAIL at math.

Apple is up 141% since last July 24, not 41%. So either way apple was better last July.
