How did they buy these trucks, trailers, RV's, and equipment?

These "reality" stars are paid anywhere from $25K - $50K per episode. For the 2nd season due to massive ratings I'm willing to bet they are now getting close to $100K per episode if not more.

The "Pawn Stars" team is making well over $100K each per episode now.

Consider that cheap in the TV world where Ashton Kutcher makes $800K per episode and Charlie Sheen was making $1.25 million along with a full cast and crew of writers, directors, camer-man, make up, ward-robe, and studio space.

Its economics - Reality TV is cheap and the American public loves watching train wrecks like this.

yea for being down on their luck, they sure did find $250,000 bucks to finance their operations. not only that but the hoffmans own a fricken small airport and drive big ass new 4X4 Ford 350 pickups.

the next episode looks like more uber fail. the D8 cat sliding on the permafrost. lol Gee you would that that virgin ground right next to a major mining operation would be a clue of why its virgin ground???

Call the Hoffmans camp the Northwestern. Call Freds camp the Time Bandit, call the kids camp the Cornelia Marie. Start looking for the green horns and few more camps/boats to be introduced. Wait for a few guys to jump boats/camps. Same like american chopper split to two shops. I predict Dorsey to be written back into the script. They will make into a competition. Fred might have to go he is a very bad actor making it look over the top scripted and corny.

Looks like they are setting the old man and son against each other another discovery format. Junior verses senior seem familiar. All we need now is old man Teutel to visit Jack and Junior to visit Todd.

Discovery knows what works for these so called reality shows. The did it all before

This, to an extent.

New kid takes over grandpa's operation.
Fred takes over the glory hole.
Todd moving to klondike.

I don't think this will become a father versus junior type show. I do think that Dorsey will return. I do think that people will jump ship to the other operations to add even more shenanigans.

The execs at Discovery are sitting on a "gold mine" of ideas for reality shows. The ratings for underwear models who compete for commercials and fashion gigs would go through the roof.

I did and I am getting tired of this show. I really liked the first season but now with all the jumping around it sucks. I dont care about the kid mining, or that old guy fred. I want to see the orginals walk around not knowing what to do. Thats why I started watching this show.

DELINQUENT TAXES: 40,576.77 (airport)

also it looks like the HOffmans own several ghetto no-tell motels....

The landlord, Georgia Hoffman, has draped plastic sheets over many of the roofs--her answer to tenants' complaints about water pouring in. There aren't any gutters or downspouts to redirect the water, either.

At other units, doors sag on their hinges, windows are either cracked or boarded up, and the stench of feces and urine wafts past. Rusted-out and busted-up autos and piles of unidentifiable junk complete the external environment of All States Motel.

Besides, Hoffman and her husband, Jack, are collecting, by WW's estimate, $150,000 a year in rental revenue from the tenants at All States. And it has undoubtedly helped them maintain their own residence, a home on Goodtime Road in Molalla that, according to the Clackamas County assessor's office, has a market value of $690,379.

Tried watching it.
I agree about the "miner intuition" comment. Todd did great scraping the land that had already been mined. What a fucking train wreck these guys are.

my point is that the Hoffmans are not as destitute as they claim to be.

So where does it mention they are the same Hoffman's on Gold rush??

That one 16 year old kid gets mad props from me. He's the only reason I watch that show; I hope he strikes it rich.

For all I know everything is in hock and/or their up to their eyeballs in debt.

Unless you can see the full financial picture it's just a guessing game.

Even if they weren't almost broke......why care?

I see a buncha guys trying to better their financial situations with sweat, determination, ingenuity, and energy instead of sitting around bitching about it like I see in many places including here.

They builded a city around this and called it Kimberley. The city got about 7 traffic robots and a 1940 train motoring through it every day.
