I came home, got settled, and this was on. It's the finale. I caught a couple episodes previously so I know the players and so I'm watching now.

Now...

The host is a fucking prick and I wish one of these guys would pound him into the fucking ground. Yes I had a couple drinks after work :p

It appears that he brought the bearded guy (1000 ounce dude) up there specifically to embarrass him on live tv. He thinks it's his Geraldo moment. Then when the guy defends himself mr asshole cuts him off and tells him to talk about it later.

Fuck you Mr. asshole.

And I'm done :D

This was on last week. And the live show was terrible. They made Todd to be out to be an idiot....well, because he is.

Yeah, the finale turned me off of the show for good. First they were making claims that one group hit the 'mother load' and I watched to see who it was. Turns outs no one. The "host" then explained towards the end that he considered the thousand ounces Todds crew dug up to be the mother lode. Pure b.s.

If you accept the fact that GRA is just a glorified soap opera then you're OK. If you expected any real entertainment from the show you should first watch the first season. You get dragged into the story of these down-and-out guys (and their families) risking it all to strike it rich in Alaska searching for gold. As the season progresses you learn that a number of these "desperate" guys were taken for fools. Todd (and others) worked the plot of of "show" on an almost daily basis with the Discovery Channel. A number of the guys who left spilled their guts on what it was all about and how deceptive Todd was.

The DC has hit an all-time low with this show. What's disturbing is that enough people watch this "entertainment" to keep it on the air. Really sad ...

My main motivation for watching the show is to see what braindead thing he does next.

The "host" is the director and guy who originally brainstormed/developed the show. He and Todd always give each other shit and it's really nothing more than good-natured ribbing considering their relationship.

He's still an annoying, pompous, instigative asstard.

I highly doubt he's anything close to 'equals' with any of the cast; they're essentially his employees. And they don't really get be as demanding as normal actors (let's face it, they're pretty much actors).

Wasn't this aired live last Friday?
Todd fails as a leader, but he is the reason why this show is entertaining.

Allegedly, Todd Hoffman is the one that made the decision to go to South America and whether or not he goes to Alaska next year is also a decision completely in his hands. Regardless of Todd's faults he doesn't seem like someone who would tolerate a douche for a producer for long.

I also think it's a bit shallow to determine who's a douche or asstard based on what little you see of someone on a TV show. Christo may be a douche. He also might be the nicest guy in the world. He might fall somewhere in-between. Making that determination one way or the other based solely on a few minutes of a TV show is pure speculation.
