I disagree only with your timeline. I think the whole idea of getting the best for society could be had through competition spelled doom from the beginning. Competition is hate. Men like Trump are the ultimate product, in my opinion, people who understand that to win can be most easily had not via competence, but by a singleminded focus on the pretence you live to make others great. The only requirement for success, the utter abandonment of any form of empathy that isn’t in service of that altered reality. You must never really care.

You just have to promise a world full losers, people who have been put down as such, that you love them as they are, that they need do nothing to feel OK again, that they have joined the winning team and it’s time for revenge.
