Check your bank to see who they partner with in europe. Then you can withdraw for straight rates and no fees. Btw zurich is beautiful. I had a few hours layover there and wish I could of stayed.

Yup second time. First was 1994. What about travelers cheque? I am thinking depositing money to my friends account at zurich. Just a thought.

I was able to use amex pretty much everywhere, and my amex doesn't charge foreign transaction fees, maybe you can look into that?

Get an account with one of them large multinational banks like citi.

Btw, prepare to bleed some cash, Zurich is really expensive. I think I was paying about $20 for drinks.

My wife and I have some friends who live there. Must make plans to go visit them soon!

Last time I went to Europe my boss had just come back from Italy and he had a few hundred Euros so I just bought 400 Euros from him at the going exchange rate. Worked out well for both of us.

I have a Schwab card which has no foreign currency exchange fees, but I am pretty sure it's been discontinued. Look at a Capital One card maybe, I heard they don't charge exchange fees either.

If you have AAA you can get a prepaid debit card that doesn't charge any fees while abroad. The activation charge for the card is pretty low too – we put about $5,000 on it and it was only $5. They also allow you to have multiple cards for one account (fees for extra cards apply).

I know a gay client who had a living room full of cds. I don't understand why someone has so many when there is mp3. Are cd quality better than mp3?
