I'm not sure if you can really go wrong it's awesome. Oh yeah bring a water bottle!!! They do have drinking fountains you can refill at but I remember going through a lot of water because it was hot out. I visited there but only for one day as I was staying in San Fransisco on vacation, so only took a couple of shorter trails. Bring a swimming suit or shorts you want to swim in, to cool off by some of the waterfalls which are just incredible. I think the water falls aren't going very heavily during the summer they weren't when I was there at the end of August, so you can swim quite close to them.

Link should have info for you as well: http://www.nps.gov/yose/

Don't hike alone and bring a satellite phone in case you fall off a cliff.

If you're going to the valley you can't miss nice views. How long a hike do you want? If you do the half dome hike and want to climb the cables to the top, get an really really early start. The crowds on the cables suck if you start too late. And bring more than a water bottle for a hike up out of the valley. There aren't water fountains once you get up off the valley floor and you'll likely drink a lot.

I'm going with my girlfriend. We're both pretty athletic so hopefully we can last a while. Just looking for a nice hike. Nothing toooooooo strenuous.

Have fun in the ankle high river in the valley. IMHO I wouldn't stay in the valley for to long, there are nicer places this time of year than the valley. Infact the river runs dry in the valley.

ATT seems to work in Yosemite ok. T mobile does not.

Head up to Glacier Point because the view is fantastic. You can take a bus from the Valley up to Glacier Point and then hike all the way down back to the Valley.

I did this about 6 weeks ago or so. It's a 4 mile hike down and while that doesn't sound hard... it did take a good 2-2.5 hours or so.
The views up there are awesome~

I live about 100 miles from Yosemite and go there at least once per year.

Right now, things are extremely dry, and the waterfalls are probably about non-existant. (some of the bigger ones are probably still running somewhat, but not at their spring norms.

There are some forest fires burning up there, (not in the more common visitor areas) so it may be smoky and hazy, but depending on the winds, might not be too bad.

Glacier Point and on the way up to it, Taft Point. Taft Point is a small 10-15 minute hike, but you can stand at a small 5' across railing and look over 4000' straight down into the canyon. Glacier Point is simply one of the most amazing vistas in the world.

Edit: You can drive to both, TP is about a mile and a half away from GP on the same road. Do yourself a favor and visit both.

Do I take the bus to GP and leave my car I guess it's at the bottom? Does the bus take me to GP or is it a hike from the bus --> GP --> down to the valley?

The bus left from one of the offices - I think it was near the cafeterias.
It's about $20 per person. You could hike up and down~
There are a bunch of smaller and larger hikes.
Up a Glacier Point, I actually saw rock climbers on the very top of El Capitan (they look like ants even through those "telescopes") which was pretty cool.
