This is the first time going to dc with the wife and we will be arriving on a saturday afternoon around 3pm. We can't decide if we want to leave wednesday morning or tuesday morning. Thinking about going to most of the tourist spots.

Should we go for 4 nights or 3 nights?

I just don't want to stay too long and make it feel like we have been there forever.

Leave on Tuesday. I went earlier this summer and stayed for three days and I saw pretty much everything I could see without a car.

I doubt staying an extra day will make a difference. You might as well stay 4 nights and fully enjoy your vacation.

We can so some sightseeing on tuesday before we leave or I am thinking of stopping at Hershey Park on the way back.

Just depends on whether you want to take your time or just get out there and see everything in two days. If you get there Saturday afternoon you could have time to see most of the stuff on the mall. That gives you two full days for the rest. It could be done pretty easily unless you want to spend a lot of time at the Smithsonian or take a tour. Make sure to go to the National Archives.

It depends what all you have on your Itenerary... its a fun town, but you should have an idea... you don't really need a car too much, the metro goes most places.
