Going to Vegas on Friday (suggestions?)

I am flying to Las Vegas on Friday. (thank you free southwest rewards tickets) I have not booked a room or a rental car yet, anyone have any suggestions? Do I even need a rental car? This is my first trip to sin city and I want to have a good time. Should I stay on the strip? How about the Hard Rock? If you have been there recently, did you like your hotel? Is there another that you would recommend?

If I get some good suggestions, I promise pics!:camera:

Mandalay Bay and Bellagio are my favorite hotels, try to stay there if possible. Hard Rock is very cool, but they're a bit off the strip. You have no need tor a rental car- you can walk to most places or taxi if you're lazy. For best odds the old, downtown casinos are the best (golden nugget, etc) They're kind of trashy but that's the point- they attract people by their better odds.

Good luck!

It totally depends on what you are looking for. If you want to see the sights, stay on the strip.

If you want better value and better odds gambling, stay downtown.

The Hard Rock is a great place, but it is not on the strip.

Go to Cheetah's on Friday or Saturday night. Trust me you won't be disappointed! And get a lap dance from Lickable (Marina) from me!!! She's got nice soft t!tties....

EDIT: Oh yeah, almost forgot...STAY IN MANDALAY BAY!!! RUM JUNGLE!!! :Q

I just want to have a good time, gable a little and drink a lot! Does it really matter where you stay? Can't you just hang out at the casino you like the best. the prices of the hotels vary so much, it is hard to choose without being there before.
What is so good about "MANDALAY BAY", is there a lot going on there?
Anyone else have any favorites?

MB is great, but still can't compare with venetian. stay at venetian. 😀

$$$$$$$$$ i need to save some for fun, that place is expensive!

pm me and i'll give you a number to call when i get home that will get you a great deal for this weekend.

There are hotels/casino that are 20 min outside of LV on the I-15 for 10 bucks a night!! (Sun-Thu). These are the ones next to an outlet and have trams. They are pretty big. My gf said the rooms are pretty decent. That might be good idea if you don't mind driving.

This doesn't have anything to do with a car or hotel, but make sure to go to the buffet at the Rio, it's unbelievable. And don't go to the buffet at Treasure Island, it's horrible.

That's all I got.

I second that Rio buffet nomination, but you must be starving when you go, it's so big you won't be able to try a little of everything like you can at most buffets. There are a lot of cheap places to eat here that are pretty good, I recommend the Sunset Station or Green Valley Ranch, both in Henderson but just minutes from the Strip.

The Sahara isn't bad (the Strat is also cheap, but is actually pretty nice inside), but it's sort of a far walk to get to the heart of the Strip (plus, the neighborhood is sort of rough, so if you come back late you have to dodge nasty hookers and crack dealers.

Have fun!

did you say that you haven't booked a hotel yet? good luck finding a decent hotel with a reasonable price then.

SO the prices are like airlines and they go up with short notice. I thought last second you could get good deals?

I didn't eat for 36 hours before going. I got my ~20 bucks worth.
