As a many times visitor to Vegas I can tell you to RENT a car, taxi drivers will screw you out of your money big time, my advice is dont stay on the strip stay downtown the ones that say the downtown casinos are crappy do not know what they are talking about. The rooms at the Golden Nugget downtown are plush and reasonable.
I can tell you that you will get screwed by the taxi driver that picks you up at the airport, if when you leave the airport and you go through a tunnel he has screwed you out of at least $3.00 because he is taking you south instead of north. If you are going downtown from the airport and he takes I 15 he has screwed you out of at least $7.00 as Maryland parkway is the shortest and fastest.
I am leaning toward the Sahara,
The Sahara is not bad, it is clean and they treat you pretty good there. Why stay at a casino that charges you $100.00 a night when all you need is a clean room, good bed, and a nice bathroom. You will sleep just as good for 30 bucks as you will for 100 bucks they probably bougt the beds from the same place.
Things to do:
Go to Cesars place and see the free stuff, Zues, the statues come to life, Race to Atlantis along with the free fire and ice show.
Go to the Paris and go up in the Ifle tower I think it is $7.00 work your way through the casino to the Wax musium about dark and then stand out on the stairway there and watch the Volcano right across the street, this is probably the best place to see it from.
Go watch the sinking of the ship.
Go into the Biliaggo and through the bar onto a little balcony get a drink and watch the free water show.
if you rent a car $25.00 a day is about average at budget rent a car and they will pick you up at the airport.
Go to Circus circus and watch the free show on the 2nd floor.
Check out the show at the Congo room at the Sahara, it usually pretty cheap and always good shows.
Go into the MGM and walk over the bridge to the New York it is a great little sight seeing thing.
The Excalabar has a lot of free shows upstairs and a excellent buffet reasonable.
Go to the NASCAR Cafe and ride one of the race cars for about 5 or 6 bucks, they have a pretty good little roller coaster there also.
That should take up about a day or so.

Bleep

ok, so starve and go to the Rio buffet, I can do that. Anything else?

Bellagio buffet.. simply amazing.

Rio buffet = good things, Bellagio buffet = awesome things.. all you can eat: king crab, fresh cut prime rib, lamb, a fresh cooked desert rack that goes on and on.. much much more formal then the Rio though.. nice pants and sweater, shirt tie makes you feel right at home there..

I would have to second the recommendation to hit the Cheetah. I'm no perv or strip club frequent, but all I can say is WOW! Something any redblooded male should not miss. My buddies both dropped about a grand each there, so be sure not to have "too much fun" 😉

How many people are you going with? If you are solo and a light or non drinker, get a car and do some exploring. If you are with a group, focus on the strip. Hit downtown one night, preferably during the night around 10PM for the canopy light display. Don't stay there any later than 2 or 3AM, it gets kinda freaky/creepy. Also hit the Stratoshphere at night. The view from the rides (on top) is killer!!! Don't walk to/from the strip to there too late either....there are some real freaks/panhandlers out there.

Have fun!!

Another thing about Vegas....do they still have the posters of the little guy with the huge Lobsters in every bus stop?

I am 30 and I am going with my girlfriend. Neither of us have been there before and I don't want to get back and hear "you should have seen ........" So I figured the fine people at ATOT would be the place to get the low down. We like to go to bars, but I also want to see all the sights of "sin city" Thanks for all the info "bleep"

Oh oh, if you like clubs, go to the Whiskey at Green Valley Ranch, it's the bar Cindy Crawford and her husband own (take the 15 to the 215 East and get off at Green Valley Parkway -- can't miss it)! There is no cover charge and they have this awesome patio area with big beds and benches, and you get the most amazing view of the whole Vegas valley from out there... it's romantic.

I always recommend things in the Green Valley area because that's where I live, for one, and there's some cool stuff over here.

How is a lap dance from a beautiful woman homosexual? I guess I meant "tell her I sent ya"...I think I still have her cell phone number somewhere...

Why on earth would you take your girlfriend to Vegas? Go alone and have a good time with some really hot women.

I will be in LV as well....leaving on Saturday and staying at RIO for 2 nites.
Some info I found online:

http://lasvegasfunbook.com/
Loosest Slots in Vegas 🙂 Don't gamble too much on the Strip, better chances in Downtown.

Also, you may be able to get discount coupons in local yellowpages or at visitor centers.

You may also want to check out the nearby National Parks...great for hiking or mountain climbing.
Check out Red Rock Canyon.

Remember to know your limits when gambling! Set an amount to spend on gambling and if you lose it all, QUIT! Do not attempt to recover or you'll bury yourself..hahaha.

I stayed at the Sahara 3 weekends ago...its fine...its nothing fancy nothing special...but its a cheap place to stay...

it is a little bit of a walk from other places...It took me 45 min. to walk from Paris, which is across from the Bellagio to the Sahara...but i had my good friend budweiser in my hand for the trip...

Why I like staying at the Sahara-

BEST place to gamble late night...they have $1 tables there, that very few places in vegas has...so you can go out to other places gamble when u are down on your luck, or up and dont want to lose it...u can end up at the sahara, gamble for $1 and get lotsa free drinks...

amazingly the bellagio is also good for free drinks- a waitress told me a trick there, just call a waitress over (even if you arent playing) give them like $5 upfront and they will hook up for a while with really good drinks

try getting your room from priceline. I don't think this weekend is a big weekend. You might get a bargain for 4-5 star hotel for cheap. Use biddingfortravel.com to see what others are paying for their room.

If you need economic hotel right on the heart of the strip, go to Imperial palace.

If you're only going for the weekend and you've never been to vegas, you'll spend most of the time on the strip entering the casinos and be amazed at all the decorations and display. Definitely go to caesar palace, venetian, alladdin, bellagio as they have nice shopping area.

If you have sometime, try to go to downtown LV to watch the freemont st experience.

You should also catch several of the famous free shows like the bellagio fountain, treasure island bucaneer bay show, mirage volcano eruptions.

Lots of stuffs for you to do if you'd like to really see it all in 1 weekend. My advice is to save you money and try to refrain from gambling too much. Save it for your next vegas trip instead 🙂

make sure you see the pirate show at treasure island. it'll be your last chance. they're shutting it down in july.
