I'll be staying here... special promo rate of $199/night, Friday & Saturday.

I lost $500 last time I went (last month), and hope to regain at least a fraction of that while I'm there.

Does anyone have any gambling tips (besides "don't gamble!" :p )?

I lost all of my money last time on craps (first time playing), roulette (first time playing) and blackjack.

If anyone has any gambling superstitions or roulette tips, I'm all ears...

Also, what buffets should I check out? I  seafood, and wasn't able to afford any last time because I... ran out of money. :(

i made $400 in craps last time. i'm never the shooter. i hit the point and then go 7 out. i just wait for a good shooter to come around and bet $10 on the pass line and the max behind it. get some hard ways bets in. usally put about $12 on 6, 8 and $10 on 10.
in roulette, i have a set of numbers i always play. usually play at the $1 tables and put about 2-4 bucks on each number. its risky but so fun.
i don't play blackjack because i suck at it.

if you like seafood, hit the rio buffet..its $25/person but well worth it..imho. (its humble, not honest ;)) but i usually hit the bellagio buffet because i like the creme brulee. have fun.

Get a good playing partner or watch the tables for awhile. You might want to play open face 21 first to get a feel. Lose 3 straight, walk away.

Learn to know when to surrender in 21 too.

Check this site out etc for tips on 21, etc. --->wizard of odds

Learn how to play to Vegas style Pai Gow. It will slow you down just in case you're on losing streak.

Good luck HK.

Wow, that looks like one hell of a deal. 199? How many people in that room and how'd you get that special rate?

As for gambling tips, this website is great. If you're trying to win money, avoid the roulette table and play craps and blackjack. I have a thing for video bj with the double or nothing option when you win, I've done fairly well on those and I hear they're gaining popularity.

As for seafood buffet, there's only one I know of that is highly regarded and its at the Rio, which means you'll have tot ake a taxi and then pay I think about $30, but its very highly recommended.

if you like seafood don't forget to check out the Paris buffet for dinner they have the largest cocktailed shrimp I've seen on the strip plus they have a large section of crab and oysters. I went 2 weeks ago (august 13) and it was great. For desert don't forget to try the crepes, they make em' right in front of you with whatever you want. MMmm...

Have fun.

Thanks, van... do you put $10 on the double 5's, or just on 10? I don't entirely understand the rules, and played on the "PASS" line last time.

I'll be sure to try out the Rio buffet... :D

I charged it to my credit with a group, but I think it came up to $24.99 a head ... maybe a little less.

Nice room there. I stayed in those during my hooneymoon. At the time, I got it for $99.

I loved the Alladin Sunday brunch. Great food and plenty of champagne and other drinks to get you started.

The Orleans has a good buffett with some different items.

the venetian is SWEET. The buffet at the Luxor is very good and cheap, but it's not heavy on seafood. I've heard the Bellagio buffet is the sh!t but pricey.

i like the Madalay Bay's buffet. They had a lot of good seafood (like 4-5 different kinds of prepared shrimp, salmon, and baked and steamed crab legs). It was $21 i believe. My friends who i went with enjoyed it more than Rio's, but to each his own i suppose. Last time i went also, i played mainly blackjack, and i won about $500. not a great amount, but i came home from vegas with my meals, hotel paid for, plus the money i went with. Im going again in October and cant wait, staying at the Paris. have fun and good luck Dezign!

the hard ways are when you roll out double such as 2 2s, 2 3s, 2 4s, 2 5s. i put about $5-10 on a hard 6 and 8 depends on how well i'm doing. if i have extra change then i just sometimes put $2 on longshots like the snake eyes or boxcars, 2 1s and 2 6s, respectively. if you run into a streak of bad luck just walk away before you lose more money.

Are those the suites in the new tower they just opened? Uber nice!

We wanted to stay in one of the regular Venetian suites for $119/night when we went back in June, but the deal was already booked up by the time I ordered. We 'settled' for staying in the Mirage and the Bellagio instead. Next time I want to try Caesars. I loved the atmosphere in that place and the rooms in the Forum Tower are supposed to be on par with the Bellagio and Venetian (I personally thought our room at the Mirage was almost as nice as our Bellagio room.) I know some people think it's foolish to spend a lot on a room (and we didn't with online deals) but we loved the location (didn't need a rental car) and if you're not there alone you'll hopefully get to spend a decent amount of time in the room having free fun. We didn't want to gamble enough to get a comped room. If you're going to spend that much money just to hopefully get a 'free' room skip the middle man and go ahead and spend the money on the room directly.

I have no gambling advice other than lose your money slowly. I had a better time playing roulette actually than I did playing blackjack. I usually tried the safe bets, but still managed to lose it all afterawhile. The slots were actually pretty good to me and the drink girls at Caesars were fantastic.

I'm not a big drinker, I'm more about the food and fun... thanks for the tips, it looks like I'll have to visit Vegas a few more times to get all these yummy buffet recommendations in. :D Speaking of food, I'm getting hungry... off to lunch, be back in a bit! Thanks to everyone for the feedback... :)

by the way, niiiiiiiiiiice hotel. you got hooked up nicely. also, i know you are leaving soon, but next time, practice at casino's before you head out. make the drive down to pechanga or something, unless you have something closer and play there.

Whatever you do, don't put lifesavers on your shirt and ask people to 'suck for a buck'. Such activities should be reserved for bachelorette parties. Now it seems girls having birthday parties in Vegas are trying to get in on the action...

Hey aren't you into like that whole party/people-watching scene thing? You should definately check out the crowd at Hard Rock Hotel/Casino and at Mandalay Bay (and of course the whole Ghost Bar thing at Palms.)

Just got back from there last friday. It will be a number of months before I will go back. Lost about 600 bucks myself playing a combination of slots and blackjack. It was all fun, and I didn't mind staying at the Flamingo. Best damn pool on the strip. :)

do the lunch/dinner buffet thing. go right before lunch ends and pay for lunch then stay over till dinner. i know this is shady but i don't care. works at bellagio, luxor, mandalay bay. dont know anywhere else. as for seafood....go to the RIO seafood buffet, the best!
