hey guys, was gonna upgrade to leopard on launch day but just didnt get around to it... was just as well really seeing as there were a fair share of little problems.

i assume now that all is well and ironed out?

i have a 2.4ghz MBP 15.4incher, i just upped it to 4Gb of ram and its flanked by a 400GB external USB hard disk and a 160GB portable hard disk, so (house cleaning permitting) i should be set for time machine.

i do you use parallels however and at the moment its pretty critical that my VM doesnt die or get corrupt or erased.

can i install leopard as an upgrade and still be able to use parallels without reinstalling?

I have Parallels installed on my Macbook. The version right out of box was a little buggy under Leopard, but after an update it seemed ok.
I thought VM's are stored as a single file so maybe you can just back it up?

I did just that, and it worked fine. Granted, given you say it's critical at the moment, I wouldn't even touch upgrading, and wait for 10.5.2. I have no issues, but why would you want to do a relatively major upgrade when stuff is critical at the moment (given the way you said it, I'm assuming there's a better time you could be doing this...).

yeah there is a better time, but its not that far away

besides i dont think theres gonna be a point where i can do without parallels....only times when im going to be able to fix a fuck up without it hindering what im doing too much. parallels has died on me before when it crashed and i had to actualy take the battery out of my machine just to get it to turn off and restart. windows would not boot after that, but i did manage to save all the important stuff using parallels explorer. so really there is no ideal time, just times that are less worse than others.....and i dont wanna be sat with tiger all year!

you have critical stuff and if you do upgrade now, im pretty sure it wont get touched, but just to be safe, wait until 10.5.2.
