All, I am going to be upgrading my computer in the near future (this week) and am looking for some advice as to what is the best choice to go with.

Right now, I am currently running on the following configuration:

AMD Athlon 64 3400+ (Socket 754)
1gig RAM
2 160gb SATA Drives (Raid 0)
ATI Radeon X850XT

I am looking at going with:

AMD Athlon 64 4200+ X2
1gig RAM
2 160gb SATA Drives (Raid 0)
(2) GeForce 7800GT in SLI Mode

What I am wondering is, will I notice a difference with the new configuration over the old one?

And, am I better off going with one 7800GTX card or 2 7800GT Cards in SLI Mode?

Thanks!

Is there some game that's just too slow now? You already have a fast system.

If not, send the money off to INGDirect.com and wait 6 months. Then you'll get a 4600+ X2 and 7800GTX in SLI for the same money :)

Well right there your going with a dual core processor over your single core 3400 and the 7800GT does have more pixel pipelines. So I guess so.Anyways its good to invest in a socket 939 and a pci-e card...

Looks good. The second 7800GT looks like overkill. You really don't need SLI unless you're playing on a 24" LCD... It's usually better to opt for a single, better GPU. I say get 2gigs of ram and a single 7800GTX instead. That should give you plenty of juice.
