I have a HP Pavilion ze1210. Stock, this thing comes witha Athlon XP-m 1400+ and 256MB SDRAM. Currently, I have 512MB.
I really want a new laptop, but I don't think it's going to be possible. So, I think I'm going to sink a couple hundred bucks into this thing to keep it going another year or so until I can save enough money to buy me something really nice.
So here's my point. The current processor is:
Athlon XP-m 1400+
AXMD1400FQQ3B
For those not in the know, it means this is an Athon XP in a OPGA package with FSB auto-detect, 1.450v core, 256k L2 and a 200mhz FSB.
I was looking at a XP-m 3000+ but the voltage is too high on it at 1.650v.
That takes me down to the XP-m 2600+, which has a 1.450v core with 512KB of L2.
The question is, does the KN133 chipset support a 133FSB? The current processor is only 100mhz. I've read the press releases and such, and am aware that TECHNICALY the chipset can do 133mhz, but I'm just looking for someone who maybe has some first-hand experience in swapping out a processor like this.
My plan at this point is to take $200 I just made off of ebay and pick up a 2600+ and a 512MB stick of PC133, to give me 768M total. Just hoping this is feasable. If I get a consensus that it probably won't work, I probably won't do anything, as I don't think upgrading this old thing to 1GB of SDRAM will really do a whole lot of good without the processor.
Ok now.. Anyone have any good experiences?
