Even though this really may not be the best place to come for support... I just really wanted to get something out there....
Even though I live in Orange County (about an hour away from UCLA), it still feel's like I'm gonna be a huge distance away from everything that I've grown up knowing. This move-in date has crept up on me and totally caught me off guard.... just yesterday I was making plans for things to do this weekend with my buddies that are going to a local college, but then it hits me that I won't be around come this weekend :

I guess a similar experience is gone through every time someone does something that basically totally changes their way of existance... so I guess just wish me luck guys :)

(btw if anyone is going and likes playing soccer just PM me I'm lookin for ppl to play with :))

GPA was like ranked 60 (I think rank is more important than overrall GPA....)
SAT's were all relatively high (which I think was my saving grace)
Extracurriculars were all aznish clubs with minimal involvement but you wouldn't believe the amount of exaggeration you can put onto one application :)

Which dorm did you get? I just graduated from UCLA last spring. I'm doing my masters at USC and I have to say the electrical engineering department at USC is MUCH better from the academic side. If research is your thing UCLA is probably better.

heh....I was a CSE at UCLA and now doing MSEE at USC. I have to agree. USC engineering department seems much better than UCLA (at least I like it more). My friend is doing his MSCS at UCLA and hates it. Every class is about the professors current research. I do admit that USC still doesn't get the academic recognitions compared to UCLA

My gf cousin is moving in tomorrow too at UCLA(Hedrik I think). You could probably play soccer with her. She was in the varsity team.

A couple thoughts: first, your first year is a great time to break away and do new things. If you do something stupid or pitifully misfitting you can always chalk it up to "well, I was a freshman". Second, time passes quickly, and life is too short to waste it online. Trust me on this one. Once you get used to wasting time on ATOT it's hard to break away.

Third, get out and meet people, even if you're introverted like me. If nothing else you'll have people to sit in the lounge with and shoot the breeze for a year; at best you'll have people you can say hi to around campus.

Enjoy! I'm coming into my last year and these are the things I should've done.
