Going To Try Upgrading The Fleet To Run SETI@Home As A Service...

Went by my friend's gamestore today, discovered that he has been turning on most of the machines to run even when there are no customers to play them, but most of them sit at the Login prompt, so get no crunching done. I think I am going to try and set them all up to run it as a service, I will probably start working on it over Christmas break. Easier than reminding him to get them past the prompt. ;) It should increase my output by fifty per cent at least, judging from the numbers I have been checking.

Then you should check out the seti as service page @ soni.dk :)

I also think sukhoi has a page at his homepage.. (dont have the link)

It should be pretty straight forward.
Just remember to have a setiqueue somewhere..

All of the machines at the store are running Win98, and I have not the slightest idea where to get or what to do with SETI Queue.

I though that if you set up Seti as a service in a pc that is not within your control, the Seti will crunch, flush and get wu's by itself, please correct me if I'm wrong.

How are they currently connecting? You probably don't need to use SETIQ. For the service install I would try IsOs Win9x/Me SETI Driver Service Install.

Yes that install by IsOs is great. Go to the link to Sukhoi's site in his signature and download it from there. It is self explanitory but the little help you will need should be found in the readme file. Good luck.

He has a T1 or T3 hub at the store, so they are all connected to the 'Net.

Yeah you don't need to run SETIQ but since he has a static IP you could use SETIQ and connect to it remotely to monitor the fleet. SETIQ has a great interface for checking up to make sure that your clients have been turning in wu's.

SetiQueue is a great way to check on your crunchers. I use it at work and home. Just walk up to the pc running it and you can check your whole herd in seconds. If there is a problem then you head to that one pc.:)
