I know they offer free (slow) data and texting when you go international, but what about basic voice calls? Am I going to get gouged if I make and take calls? Google seems to only find stuff that's years old so I don't trust it.

if you are on the simple choice plan, then $0.20/minute calling (whether you receive/make it)

if you have a wifi-calling phone, you can receive calls on wifi for free, call to US on wifi for free

http://www.t-mobile.com/optional-services/roaming.html (put in Canada as the country, look at the coverage)

You can upgrade your data to faster speeds
Single day pass: $15 for 100MB (high speed data capped at 100MB)
7 day pass: $25 for 200MB (high speed data capped at 200MB)
14 day pass: $50 for 500MB (high speed data capped at 500MB)

This might sound like a dumb answer but could you call T-Mobile and ask?

Heh, I actually did right after posting, but I figured the answer would be useful to any others that also wondered.

Yeah it's 20 cents per minute, screw that. We should manage just fine with the free texting.
