Going to the Visual Studio 2005 launch event

Gotta head out in like 15 minutes, realized I have no idea if I'm going to be surrounded by people in suits, jeans and shirts, whatever.

Is a laptop worth bringing, or is that going to be a 15 pound bag I end up lugging around and never opening?

I'm guessing penguins are out of the question...

Can't go wrong with slacks w/ shirt and tie. You can always take the tie off if it's too much...

I was at the Win2k launch in Nova Scotia. The dress seemed to be whatever (including the t-shirts they were giving away). Laptops not useable there, but useable afterwards). Have fun.

EDIT: Upper level casual can never be bad...

Don't worry about it. Most devs are probably pulling their clothes out of the laundry basket ATM.

The typical Microsoft look is a pair of kakis and a blue button down shirt, no tie.

This forum does horrible things for my ego. It makes me regret joining the Navy more than anything.... 🙁 Oh well. Life's a bitch.

Too late for the OP, but for anyone else that may go to one of these events: stay for both the sql server 2005 and the vs2005 events. You get a full copy of all the softwares with each event. So, two sets of VS2005, SQL2005 and MSDN 2005.
