Going to the UK soon - Pay as you go 3g with a Mifi?

Spending 12 days in the UK later this month and with all my family members on iPhone and iPads, figured getting a single data point for all of us to use would save is OODLES in international data fees.

I looked at renting a Mifi unit from Fonmigo, but with the $20 shipping it puts me a $104 for the rental for unlimited 3G data.

Now i'm looking at buying a Mifi Pay As You Go from 3 for 72GBP ($116), which gives 3gb of Data (more than enough for all of us on this trip) and I get to keep it after for future trips. http://threestore.three.co.uk/payg/dealsummary.aspx?offercode=DSLPP527

#1 - Is this the right way to go?
#2 - Can i walk into any 3 store in the UK and purchase the Mifi for the same deal? (Was going to call the store in Edinburgh tomm, but they dont open for another 6-7 hours).

You can walk into any store and buy pre-paid mifi units. The only options available to you may be to buy the mifi outright, slop a pre-paid data sim in there for a month and use that, then unlock and sell the mifi when you get home. They get good prices on eBay.

Another option is T Mobile.

The pay as you go deal is £59 + £10 top up. Add £5 to that for a months worth of data use so that's £74, which is roughly $118, not much more than your local renting option, and again you can unlock and sell the unit when you return.

Thanks for the help! Walked into a Three store yesterday and picked up the Mifi and it's worked superb so far. All three IPhones we have connect up instantly, the speed here in Edinburgh is fast and the unit stayed on for 8 hours on a single charge. Fits our needs perfectly, thanks!
