Hi all,

I'm headed to DC this week and am taking in a concert at the Kennedy Center. Does anyone know if there's a dress code?

Thanks!

I don't know of any official policy, but I saw a stage presentation (Shear Madness, maybe?) there once, and the whole setup was pretty ghetto (bleachers or something similarly uncomfortable). Definitely wouldn't need more than a nice dress-casual shirt and khakis. I would recommend wearing layers and/or a jacket that is easy to remove. I always find these things heat up as the show progresses, until I'm so uncomfortable I can barely sit still and want to run outside screaming.

It depends on what you're watching. There's no posted dress code afaik but I wouldn't walk in with a pair of torn up jeans and a wrinkled t-shirt.

The Kennedy Center isn't all that nice... but it depends what you are going there to see. You're probably safe with dress slacks (khaki) and a nice shirt, though.

Is it really not a nice place?

Is there another place in DC that's good for shows (classical performances, plays, musicals, etc)?
