Uh... You live in Prince Edward Island. What CAN you get? I'd say get a Roman Candle or two if you can, but if not, definitely a whole bunch of flowers to throw at pesky kids. :D

Get quite a few of those Black Cat Strips - the ones where you light one fuse and you get like 1000 POPs, those are plenty fun. And get some of the Roman Candle/Bottle Rocket hybrid tubes - I'm not sure what the technical term is, but they're 2-3 foot tubes that shoot flaming balls that pop when they get high like bottle rockets. You can hold them and shoot them off, usually like 8-10 shots per tube.

I'm going in tonight to get a few boxes of M80s (Old but good) and a sh!tload of Bottle Rockets and Smoke Bombs.

i've been meaning to ask this: why do all the fireworks stands advertise "buy 1 get 5 free" or even up to 12 free? what's the deal?

They make so much profit on individual items, they can afford to give stuff away. I'm not kidding when I say the markup is crazy high, 500% and up.

I have a general idea what stuff runs wholesale, what does a gross of regular bottle rockets cost at a stand? I think wholesale, they're $1-2 for a gross.

The m80's you get at the stand, are not real m80s. I haven't seen real m80s for sale in YEARS, I did find some when cleaning out the attic one day. Even got found some silver tube salutes, which are mildly loud as well.

I remember stopping at a fireworks stand in Indiana about 10 years ago and buying some cherry bomb lookalikes that the guy said were as loud as m80s. I think it was $5 for 5 or something. I pulled one apart, and it was a firecracker (maybe a little larger) surrounded by that clay material cherry bombs are usually made of.

why don't they just reduce the price on the individual items and not give any away? maybe because others are doing it and they have to compete the same way?

Yes, artillery shells are great. You can buy the huge packs with multiple shells per shot.

Here's a tip. ;) The more fireworks you get free, the worse quality they are. Usually, the buy one get X free is for crappy firecrackers and bottle rockets that are left over from years past, or are just genuinely crappy. Of course, there is some OK stuff in the freebie piles, such as Roman Candles, Big Bottle Rockets, and those spinning colored things that look like regular firecrackers (can't remember their name for the life of me). But very rarely (actually, never in my experience) are good fireworks such as artillery shells, fountains, rockets, etc buy one get any free.

I like those flashy things that you light...I think they're called strobe blinkers or something. Chuck a smoke bomb right next to them and you've got a cool lil show ;)

Those strobes are pretty good. Nothing like seizure inducing fireworks :D

A professional pyrotechnician (read: the guy who sets off the fireworks your city has) is a family friend, and he showed us something called a "Party Time" or something similar. The damn thing went for at least 5 minutes, with whistling and spark fountains. It was in a silver, hexagon tube.

OK fireworks experts-where can I get a whole mess of sparklers for cheap? I want to make a sparkler bomb like this:

Sparkler bomb

Preferably someone who ships to Connecticut (sparklers are legal here).
