Going to the eye doctor tomorrow

I only got glasses because I used to get major headaches as a result of eye strain. Had 20/20 vision though... after a year of these glasses though, I can tell my vision has worsened without having my glasses on. Now I have to go to the eye doctor's and have them tell me that my vision has worsened and I need a stronger prescription, thus making my eyes even worse at my next eye doctor appt.

It's a never ending cycle it seems. What I'd like is to get the same prescription I have now-- just need new lenses as these are scratched to oblivion. You think they'd be understanding of my concern that I don't want my vision to worsen and just give me the same prescription again?

I don't think your eyes change in response to your prescription. They naturally change as you get older and the shape of your eye changes. My eye doctor told me they usually stop changing when you're in your mid-20s.

So not changing your prescription won't prevent your vision from continuing to change. It'll keep changing and you could end up getting headaches again from the strain.

I'm 19 though. 😛

You're a fool to think its the Ophthalmologist thats making your eyes worse. Its just how the eye works. Over time it changes, your glasses must change with it!

I don't think the eye doctor "makes my eyes worse." I think that with a higher prescription your eye gets lazier and thus your vision gets worse... and then rinse and repeat for every subsequent visit. I don't want my vision to get any worse via higher prescription glasses.

you're still saying its the EYE doc giving you the HIGHER prescription thats doing it. And that is a false statement. Let it go.
