Going to the Caribbean....

...anything we NEED to do or see?
We will be visiting St Marin/Maarten, St. Thomas and Nassau Bahamas
This will be our first time, anything suggestions on what to see/do/visit/eat??
P.S. what about shopping? whats the best island to get the best deals?

there's a nude beach on st. martin called orient beach. that was interesting .

there's a beautiful beach on st. thomas but i can't remember the name. it's supposed to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.

i thought the shopping was the same in both but we bought our watches on st. martin. keep in mind that you might have to claim stuff you buy on st. martin when you come back to the states, whereas i don't think you have to do that if you buy on st. thomas. i'm not positive though.

Well I've only been to the Bahamas, it was only one time and we only left the resort once in the week we were there. I haven't the foggiest idea if there is anything to see or do. We just went for the beach.

You gotta go snorkeling on St. John (near St. Thomas in US VI, a quick boat ride away) There's a reef there and the island is a national park.

St. Martin does have Orient Beach as previously mentioned which is truly a nude beach. You don't have to go naked but A LOT of people do and most of them should have left their clothes on.

There are 10 or 11 casions on the Dutch side if you are into that.

If you happen to be near an airport when a plane is departing, watch it take off.

I had one of the best meals of my life at La Vie En Rose on Marigot Harbor.

One thing to remember while visiting the Caribbean is that most of the ice is made with unpurified water so be careful when drinking mixed drinks.

Yep, that's what I did when we went to St. Thomas. Lola, if you're interested, I have the name of an excellent captain who will sail you out to St. John on a day trip and take you to some great snorkeling places. Very nice, all female crew, and they make a delicious, healthy lunch. It was definitely the best part of my trip to the Caribbean last year.

That is in St. Maarten and yes the jets land right over the beach and they take off right into a mountain.

I'm going back to St. Croix this July, can't wait. Staying at my friend's bosses 2nd house (guest house), by the Buckaneer, it's right on the golf course. We went back in 2001.

Buck Island off of St. Croix is also a US National Monument, and they have an underwater trail that's the best snorkeling that I've ever done so far.
