Going to the boonies.

Anyhow, for vacation this summer I think I'm going to go way up north, the roads are gravel when you go far enough up, some dirt too i think.

anyways, not sure what to get. I'm thinking either:

70/80's fullsize blazer, 350, 4spd.. 4x4. because parts are everywhere.

Maybe an old-ass Landcruiser or newish Niva. parts are harder to find for them though.

landcruiser
VAZ Niva
K5 blazer

I'd go for the Land Cruiser, they're nice and tough. I've hauled all sorts of stuff down NASTY gravel roads with a LC.

Sounds like a very cool trip. Are you planning on going as far as Inuvik?

Anyway, properly maintained, the Landcruiser should be the most reliable and should get decent gas mileage. The Blazer would be the most powerful, easiest to repair, but would get the worst gas mileage.

We haven't really decided exactly where we're going yet, just far from civilization 😉

I'll probably go with a blazer, just because of the parts issue, but i'll see.. a few months yet.
