Going to take the plunge.

I am going to take the plunge into Linux. So far I have been mostly a W2K and BeOS user, with some MacOS experience, but I figured I would give Linux a try seeing as I have nothing new to do. So I have settled on Mandrake 7.2 But I was wondering if all my hardware is going to be compatable.
I have looked over there supported hardware list but I still had a few questions on some of the hardware.
Is the Diamond Fireport 40 SCSI card supported?
Epson Photo Stylus 870?
ActionTec Camera Connect Pro?
Real Magic DVD Decorder? What are the DVD options for Linux?

I still have to check the model number of my burner. What burning software is out there for Linux?

Is there anything I might be forgetting?
Thanks

OK, well I can answer one of your questions, no, the REALmagic Hollywood Plus is NOT supported in Linux due to ... oh.. I just forgot but I emailed Sigma before and it isn't because of some DVD security things that are hard coded into the chipset. Though the NetStream 2000 from Sigma (same as H+, but optimized for net streaming and a hefty price tag) is compatible with Linux. Though I too am about to try linux, so I don't have any knowledge of what options there are, sorry.

Ok, thanks I kinda figured that the Hollywood Plus was not going to be supported. Now I just have to figure out about the rest of the stuff there.

Schola, I can tell you that the Diamond FirePort 40 SCSI card is supported on Linux. It'll get autodetected as a Symbios Logic card.

Just a quick note, just because some devices aren't supported in Linux, this doesn't mean that you still can't run Linux. You just won't have all the bells and whistles that your hardware offers. 🙂

Ya I know, but I would like it if the Camera Connect Pro would work, That way I would not need to reboot to windows or Be to get pictures off of my compact flash card. And the other stuff I was just wondering about it, nothing critical though.
