Cingular's great here in Socal. Never had any outages, second best rates, and best phones.

that's the plan i have. i went from sprint to cingular and for reason they couldn't get my online account showing my account details on everything for the first 1.5 months, but everything seems to be working now... great reception, haven't been through too many areas with no coverage year.

watch your bill to make sure they're actually crediting you for the free cingular mobile-mobile minutes... they didn't on my first billing cycle.

As with any wireless provider, the coverage and reception you get depend on where you live. Here in Houston Cingular has the best coverage of any company.

Cingular CSRs, in my experience, are generally very helpful and very nice, but some are better informed than others about how services and technologies work. Their billing department has messed up our bill a couple times, but nothing that a quick call didn't fix.

What if all the posts were that Cingular sucks? :)

I'm moving over from Cingular to T-Mobile b/c it's cheaper. I know other people who have it and don't have any problems in SoCal.

If every post were to say that Cingular sucked, I'd probably still switch considering my contract is over with Tmobile and I actually have no phone at the moment (broke it by accident a week ago.) :)

+ Im getting a sweet deal on the razr.

Cingular is good.

I'm thinking of going with T-Mobile b/c they have a more generous $30 plan. Since T uses Cingular towers, it's a win-win for me......

DIdn't you know that T-Mobile uses Cingular Towers??????????............

I hope you're getting paid after rebate or free to take that Razr because prices are dropping on that phone.

Cingular can bloat you with fees for text messages (no unlimited that I know of) and their network isn't "bars across America" quite yet -- I've had gaps in the middle of 450,000 metro areas. BUT THE NATIONWIDE roaming and no long distance is hard to beat. Despite the network gaps it's still one of the widest in America.

BTW, I just found out late last night that Cingular is switching up their rate plans to compete more directly with Verizon. I haven't looked at the individual plans, but for anything above the bottom two family plans, this is bad news. For new subscribers it won't matter, but for existing customers who will need to change their plan it will be very bad.

You can see the pricing structure here: http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php?t=636500

Individual plans look to be getting a little nicer:

6/1/05 Nation GSM Pricing

39.99 450R 5000 nw unl m2m
59.99 900R "unl nw unl m2m"
79.99 1350R
99.99 2000R
149.99 4000R
199.99 6000R

Family talk is getting ridiculously expensive:
59.99 (2 lines) 500R min 5000nw unl m2m
79.99 (2 lines) 1000R min unl nw m2m
99.99 (2 lines) 1500R min unl nw m2m
149.99 (2 lines) 2500R min unl nw m2m
199.99 (2 lines) 3500R min unl nw m2m
299.99 (2 lines) 6000R min unl nw m2m

*shrug*

I'm leaving T-Mobile as soon as possible. We've been fighting with them over an $800 bill because our phone was stolen. Getting them to live up to the service agreement has been a nightmare.

In california this is true, on alot of the east coast Cingular uses T-Mobile towers. They use the same tech and it depends on which has more presence in a certain area.

I am with t-mobile and love every aspect of their service except for their phone replacement policy. Because my wife and I are on the $49.99 family plan (500 shared anytime, free night and weekend, free t-mobile to t-mobile calling) we don't qualify for the nice phone deals, we would have to be at the $69.99 plan or higher. Annoying but not the end of the world
