Going to sleep without brushing your teeth?

How many people go to sleep without brushing their teeth? I'm sleepy and I just don't feel like getting up. What's a day without brushing the chompers? What could happen...

I avoid it as much as I can. I always brush before bed, or before if I don't plan on eating anything. It also acts as a deterrent to late snacking. If I already brushed my teeth I wont want to snack and have to brush them again. 😛

Also if you drink pop or anything acidic, don't brush your teeth right away, drink water. Now this is just my theory and I could be wrong on this but basicaly my theory is that acidic stuff may soften your enamel and if you brush you are potentially damaging it. Drink water after drinking anything acidic or sugary any time during the day.

If you really don't feel like brushing your teeth at least swish some mouthwash in your mouth so you can at least give your teeth and mouth a general cleaning which I would imagine should slow down any potential cavity creation.

You also should floss every day... but honestly I don't do it as often as I should. It's just so tedious and time consuming.

Nothing, folks go their entire lives without brushing.

If you haven't eaten anything sweet or sour, not brushing isn't all that bad.
Cavities comes primarily from acid wearing away the teeth, whether if it's from food or from bacteria eating sugar and pooping acid on your teeth.
Make sure you drink plenty of water. Having a dry mouth means it's a more acidic environment.

I grew up often being too lazy to brush and I don't have a single cavity at 28.

And they look like this:

Humans are an odd species. Animals go all their lives without doing some of the stuff we do such as brushing their teeth and do fine, but our teeth just suck compared to animal teeth I guess. Rodents have it the best, their teeth just grow all the time. Chip a tooth, or get any other damage done? It's just going to grow off. Just keep chewing copper wire (a rodent favorite) and keep them sharp and you're good to go. Actually I think sharks are similar, they lose teeth but think they can grow back.

Animals don't spend their days eating refined sugar, they also mostly don't live 80 years. Our teeth don't suck compared to theirs we just abuse them for a lot lot longer.

I only used to brush my teeth in the morning until I was about 25. I've never had gum disease and only one cavity my whole life, and that came after I started brushing twice a day and flossing. However the enamel on my back molars is almost non existent and have two crowns so far. I kind of resent my parents a bit for not teaching me better habits but in the end it is my fault. Not taking better care of my teeth is my main regret in life.

I take fanatical care of my teeth but wasnt the best at it always. 2 Root canals with 2 gold crowns and thousands of dollars spent in my mouth have changed me. I try to floss after every meal, particularly the ones where stringy meat gets lodged between my teeth. I never go to bed without brushing/flossing and make a conscious effort to rise with water after a meal. I've practically stopped drinking soda and try the best I can to take care of my teeth. These are the only teeth you have for the rest of your life.

It's the increased human life span and our modern diet that is to blame. The bacteria that cause tooth decay feast on sugars and other short-chain carbs.

Rodents have teeth that constantly grow. Other animals, not so much.

I brush them after breakfast, lunch (when at home) & after dinner, I don't see the point in washing them before bed.

No matter how tired I am - even if I fall asleep watching TV or something - I get up and brush them. Can't stand the thought of what it'll taste like in the morning.

The mineral in your teeth is apatite. With a hardness of 5, you can cut your teeth on lots of things. Replacing the OH groups with F groups gives it a hardness of 5.5

The more you knowwwwww.

One night isn't a big deal especially if you didn't eat anything sugary. More than 24 hours however, and plaque forms.

What's a day? Very little.

Make a habit out of it and in a few years your teeth will start to hurt if you skip 24 hours. The pain will convince you to turn religious about it... but by then it's too late, the dentist thanks you for his new corvette.
