Not quite sure this is the right forum for this, but it's the best fit I could find outside of OT. Mods are of course welcome to move it somewhere more appropriate if you want.
So I'm Vacationing in Malaysia (Borneo, to be precise) for a couple of weeks this July, and on the way back I have a ten-hour layover in Singapore (~2PM till midnight on a weekday). My understanding is that Singapore is one of the best places in Asia to go electronics shopping, which seems like too good an opportunity to pass up (not having to lug whatever I might buy around for two weeks is also a big plus!).
I have two questions: what to look for, and where to shop.
For the first, I'm thinking a) stuff that's not likely to fail (i.e. the lack of a warranty won't be an issue), and stuff that is very cheap. SSDs strike me as a no-brainer, but I'm wary of the possibility of fakes. I'd most likely be looking for a ~1TB SATA drive for me (MX300 or similar) and/or a 960 Evo for my girlfriend. I'd also like to look for a low-end GPU for our HTPC (RX 550 or 560, GTX 1030, 1050) if they're significantly cheaper than here. My girlfriend wants to look for new lenses for her Sony A7SII, which to me sounds smart both due to prices and these things usually having global warranties. Is there anything else I should look for? RAM? HDDs? Mechanical keyboards? What should I be wary of?
As for where to shop, does anyone have any tips? I've been looking around a bit, but for now it seems like there's an abundance of choice.
