I got the student scholarship to go to Apple's WWDC, and just finished booking my travel information. I will be arriving on June 4th (arriving in San Francisco at around 2PM local time), and will be departing at 10 PM on June 10th. I am staying at the Pickwick Hotel.

I am going mainly for Apple's World Wide Developers Conference but thought that while I am there, I can also see some of the city. From what I can tell, my morning/early afternoon will be devoted to WWDC, but my nights should be free. Can anyone recommend some sites to see, or places to go? Night life (clubs, or just places to hang out and meet people) are also welcome. I might just take all of Friday off from WWDC and go around during the day, so places to see while it is light out would be nice as well.

Thanks in advance for anyone that can give any suggestions.

Grayline tours has a booth at pier 39 where you can buy tickets. The tour only lasts about 2-3 hours but they drive to most of the highlights in the city and stop at each for about 20 minutes. Its a great way to see a lot in a small amount of time.

Buy a ticket to ride a cable car, lots of fun.

And if you have time take a blue and gold fleet tour to Alcatraz. You'll probably need to buy those tickets in advance though, they sell out quick.

Have a great time! SF in one of my favorite cities.

Ghirardelli is a cool place to check out and get an ice cream.

We saw a ball game when we were there and that was a blast. We sat in the Arcade section and had a few balls go over our heads into the bay.

Just driving around the place is cool in itself....crooked street is interesting. Look at all the paint on the sides of the walls. lol

Don't do what we did late at night and end up on the Bay Bridge....goes to Oakland.

The Alcatraz tour would be awesome. We were only able to cruise around it, but it was still cool.

I hate it here in SF. Too many tourist with their white legs, shorts and cameras around their necks. After that, they think that SF will warm up but we know that it never does. They should just stay home and watch the grass grow in their back gardens. Or watch the buns rise in their local bakeries?

Welcome to SF - Now spend much $$ so we can keep the liberals richer on welfare! And please - don't trip over all the homeless people who probably orginated from YOUR state.

Thank You and have a nice day!

Heh, the Pickwick is right down the block from my office. Probably best to ask the concierge when you get to the hotel for recommendations. You'll be close to the Metreon so you'll probably want to go there but there are so many places to see that you'll need more than a week to hit them all. Have fun!
